Labour Day - May 01, 2008

Spent the whole afternoon at home on labour day...thinking of what to do on the next few days as I have taken leave on May 02, friday to enjoy the long weekend. Few days later will be my birthday, but I am not feeling at all excited...seriously...I am not excited at all...

I feel somehow tired and wanted to have some good friends to give me surprises to spice up my life and coming birthday...

Dinner at night is at this place around International Business Park (Near Jurong East) call the "Penang Place"

Below is the website:

I have been to this place several times. Each time is around my birthday. I remembered last year I treated my friends for dinner there. This year on Labour day, I went there with 2 new friends, more of my friend's newly found BFF (Best friends forever) for dinner. I got a free treat for eating quietly I suppose (hahaha....anyway, I will have to pay back on my next post for another dining place)

Anyway, I am surprised that their service is still maintaining the standard even after so many years in business. Staff keep coming to our desk to clear the empty plates, make sure that we have bottle of water to refill ourselves. They will use those bottle (think bought from Ikea) and replace the empty one so that we can help ourselves with the water.

This plate is with penang fried kuay teow, popiah, Otak, fried prawn. I tried taking better pictures, but I think I am not in the mood for photo taking that day. Penang Fried kuay teow is always served in small portion. Think the owner want to make sure everyone eating will be served with nice and fresh Penang style fried kuay teow.
This should be the penang laksa which I did not try. There will be a staff cooking this for you. Below is the penang hokkein mee, personally I like this dish :)
Other than these, my favourite dish will be satay. Nice chicken satay with rich gravy. I always have many serving of satay whenever I am there.

I remembered previously they do serve some chilli crab there, but on that day, I only see chicken curry, nasi lemak and some other not so famous dishes.
I helped myself with some kuay below.
They are quite normal. Not worth mentioning cos I only all on this plate and did not go for second serving.

Overall, every year I visit this place, I will only have a serving or two on the fried kuay teow and hokkein mee. Many servings on Satay. Do note that they do not open on Sunday. I will still go back maybe one year later or if I miss the authentic flavours of Penang cuisine again :)
