One day, a dumbass* brought his 2 good friends out for lunch at AnchorPoint and decided that he desperately needs to pee so we suggested he stopped at a petrol station.
When he returned, he excitedly explained what he discovered which cracked us up. He said, "You know ar I just saw something very interesting. 'No Smoking By Law' right, the last chinese word looks like a person holding a gun, then the other side is a guy in a box like a jail like that, it means law right. Because law means if you don't obey you go jail. So it's a guy holding a gun pointing at another guy in the jail."
Thinking very hard, the good friends tried to figure out what word he was referring to. Until good friend A went to the toilet and saw the following words,
禁止吸烟"
When good friend A told good friend B which word he was referring to, good friend B took out her phone and type out the word 烟. Dumbass very happily exclaimed, "AHHH YES! this is the word, correct right, means law right, because the guy pointing a gun at the guy in the jail ma. Right or not, I told you my Mandarin is good la!"
Disbelief at his very creative imagination, the good friends remained speechless. Even if they argued that the word does not mean law, dumbass would still insist he is right.
While we were digressing, dumbass's creativity acts up again. He said, "the second word (which is 止) is smoking right, because a person *using index finger to show (person)* is smoking *using the other index finger to show - (cigarette)*.
Good friend B decides to type out the word and dumbass went, "ahhhh yes yes yes, correct."
"Then the bottom that line is what?!"
"Land la, a person standing and smoking." Dumbass replied.
Feeling amused, good friend continued, "What about the other stroke?"
"The other shorter vertical stroke means tree lor, in public ma, so got trees."
