Malacca Food Trip (19/01/2008)

My favourite dish in malacca once again. Standard order, one big noodle and one additional plate of pork ribs (Pai gu in mandarin). Will take all the pork ribs from the bowl to the plate as do not want the ribs to be soaked with the gravy for the noodle.

After that, mix the noodle well with the gravy and then dip the rib to the chilli and munch, follow by one mouthful of the noodle....yum yum....

New discovery for this trip is a malay snack call "Kuih Badak". It look like curry puff, but it's only the external which is similiar.

The waiting time for this road side stall is more than 20 mins for this to be made. During the wait, more chinese residents in malacca actually drove up to the stall to order the same thing. My friend ordered 10 and each cost RM$0.40. All for himself as he know I do not like malay food here, but obviously he is wrong!!!! I took 4 of them at one go....*slurp*...and why not take five of them, you may ask as to even out....well...reason being I pity him having to wait for so long for the food while I was busy snapping picture of a temple nearby...Woo hoo!!! (Good reason??)
The filling of "kuih badak" is with bean sprouts and some chilli which is not hot and nice. There is a "watery" chilli given to take with this malay snack and it taste nice. With or without the "watery" chilli, this snack still taste nice, especially it is so so hot as freshly made....
